Description

3.14 is Pi hence a PI tale, more intriguing than macho in view of the fact there are interesting characters of both genders plus a burgeoning romance with trips along side streets, anecdotes if you will; some entertaining, others interesting and the remainder mildly amusing.
It is a story about an ex-MP, no not the Jack Reacher(c) type, this one is neither an American nor did he serve as a commissioned officer, his name is Tee Eagle - An aside. You'll need to read the book; it explains the uncommon first name. Don't fret, it is spelt out early on so there is no need to skip ahead - who prior to resigning from the Army achieved the ADF rank of Warrant Officer, heading up a team attached to the Corp's equivalent of the CID in civilian police parlance. He served two tours overseas, saw action and like many vets, too many, returned home damaged. Tee opted for self-therapy, he became a private investigator, it kept him busy, the demons at bay.
He was good at his job in the Army, equally so in civvy street. A one-man band to start, Eagle Investigations, it became Eagle & Associates when he took on an offsider, a misnomer as there was only ever one associate. The "Blues" part began with an assignment from a wealthy client that had Tee Eagle undertaking a journey halfway around the world to bring home a wayward daughter who according to the father had fallen for the charms of a gigolo. Father and daughter were reunited and presented, the girl's old man that is, with a hefty five figures plus bill because all the expenses associated with the undertaking were paid for with the agency's own monies The invoice that was subsequently submitted went unpaid for one very good reason, the client was shot and killed.
Most cops do a good job in often difficult circumstances but there are bad apples, one such concocted a theory and identified a suspect, Tee Eagle, who he believed had both a motive and the means to murder his erstwhile client as a consequence of said client's failure to pay what was, in the "bad apple" cop's view, an exorbitant bill.
A spoiler that isn't really a spoiler, you know how these things go or do you? For completeness sake let us just say in the end our boy did good.
