A story told against a backdrop of 1990s Dublin and into the new millennium - one of enduring friendship. This is the darker side of love. A tale of two young women who meet through their love of music and the A Cappella group that they're both members of. For one (Georgie), life is simple, it's for the taking and everything seems to come so easy. She meets a handsome solicitor, falls in love and the future is wide open. What could go wrong? For the other (Karen), life is anything but simple. Plagued by insecurities and uncertainty, A Cappella is, in essence, a tale of one girl's quest to forge an identity and find the path in life that she feels destined to follow. However, her fascination with a musician called Mark Crowley, leads her down a dark path and it's not long before he reveals his true colours.
Ultimately, Karen discovers she's pregnant after a drunken assault which forces her to part ways with the infamous Mark. Fearful that another man will end up raising his child, Mark makes a hasty, ill-considered attempt at abducting Karen. When that fails, he resorts to a heinous attempt on her life, instead. His actions have devastating consequences.
