If you do your research, Moses, Issac, Jacob, Peter and Paul, were all given instructions on where to go and what to do, by the Lord. In Paul's case, some of it what was told to him were by Jesus first, after he went to glory, and the other by a man. Another thing you will notice about this book concerning Abraham, is the fact that his name changed twice, along with his wife Sarah. Abraham was so faithful that he was the first man that was literally called the friend of God.
