It may sound like a simple and contrived question and one can almost see millions fighting to proclaim and postulate answers. But before you join them ask yourself what language you think in.Do you think in English? French? German? Spanish? Portuguese? Et al?, due to your principal abode. Or do you think in the plethora of languages of the African continent? If so how influential has it been?. Is it at all possible to avoid the domination of western contemporary thought patterns even with the ever present and potent Islamic alternative. This statement seeks the resurrection of the subject matter as a basis for debate and counter arguement because what we are left with are images and sounds of nostalgia, desires and passion, hopes and primal hysteria, thus the violent politics, illusions, inertia and material wantonness. The struggle has been to create legibility within the dictatorial primary language and rules of engagement which dominates and cannot be stopped by the hopeless craving for equality and political correctness. ECM© 2003 About the Author ECM was born on a cold winter feburary night in an expensive London hospital many moons ago,the doctor who welcomed him claimed he was smiling while peeing on his pristine white lab coat,having managed to remain alive, and after severe discipline from boarding schools and brutal brothers amongst others he is an artist,composer,filmaker and nomad working on feature films and animation.He has travelled extensively in the African,Asian and SouthAmerican subcontinents attempting to evade taxation to no avail.
