In desperation, Ludmelia undertakes one last mission. Collaborating with Polish partisans, she seeks to get a resistance leader out through the Iron Curtain to plea for help from the West. But they have to travel through a countryside teeming with Soviet patrols to reach the border with Poland. New recruit Anton Dubus knows the area well and joins them to help.
