It reviews current methods to connect windings, including star, delta and open-end winding, and discusses the relevant control methods involved. For each winding connection, their influence on the engine's properties is discussed in-depth. Thereafter, methods of detection points of commutation are discussed for both sensor and sensorless motors.
Finally, the problem of rotational speed estimation and methods of implementing a closed control system are evaluated.
