Shaw was particularly conscious of the exploitation of the working class. Candida is a play in three acts first published in 1898. The Rev Morrell, his peerless wife Candida, and their mutual young poet friend Marchbanks are involved in a harmless triangle which Marchbanks feels compelled to reveal.
