In the Summer of Love, how can love be wrong? The story of four friends coming of age in Chicago in the small southwest side neighborhood of Clearing. Clearing, a melting pot welcoming of all peoples provided they are Irish, Polish, German, or Italian. Clearing; a sheltered enclave...fiercely protective of preserving their status quo... fearful of change... fearful of infiltration.As our four friends wade into their teen years life takes them beyond the borders of Clearing. All will make discoveries both amazing and frightening about themselves and their world. One of the four, Billy, will find something as forbidden as it is beautiful...as perilous as it is wonderful. Anonymity would be safest but the universe has conspired to cast Billy and those he cares most about into a very public light. Will he survive as he's whisked towards a date with destiny that he didn't ask for and doesn't want? The backdrop...the 1960s.
