Description
Computer based bionic systems are used for replacement of damaged human parts such as Bionic-ear for deafness, Bionic-eye for blindness, Deep Brain stimulator for diseases of the brain, and Bionic-arm for arm prostheses. For Auditory Prosthesis(Bionic-ear), a new communication protocols were designed and implemented between heterogeneous systems named Speech data processor, Internal receiver stimulator and Clinical Programming Software (CPS). CPS is used to provide the interface between computers and data processor unit. After the surgical implantation of internal unit of auditory prosthesis on deafened brain stem, the audiologist must find out the number of active electrode contacts. The impedance of each active electrode contacts are used to fit the Threshold Level (THL) and Most Comfort levels (MCL) of hearing of the particular patient. The Fitting information with the channel numbers should be saved in the CPS-text file. The generated CPS- text file downloaded into speech data processor through CPS then the speech processor is ready to process the speech or sound information with respect to that particular patient hearing levels.
