In the oldest of stories, Yaga was once a dark goddess, a wise and infinitely old crone, diminished over time to the role of a simple witch in the forest, hiding away in a hut. In her day however, Yaga commanded the sun; she changed the course of the stars and the patterns of the weather. Crone was the one with the deepest understanding of the greatest twin mysteries, birth and death. She was both dark and light, life and death, creation and destruction. All things must end, every beginning demands it.​More than anything, Baba Yaga wants balance in the world. Once she was feared and powerful, but her story has diminished over the years to tales of a simple witch in the forest. But now, she is afraid of losing her comfortable anonymity, and her greatest weakness is the fact that she is not nearly as cruel as she seems. When heroes start showing up at Yaga's Antique Store, she must come back through all the hidden and forgotten layers of herself--as a fairy tale, a forest witch, and a forgotten goddess--to be Yaga again and set the world right, even if that means that she has to kill heroes and immortals alike to make it happen.
