As Restraint's resident antagonist, Dalton has been doing his mother's bidding. Olivia Fontaine always wants something from someone, and she always uses her son to get it. In order to deal with the ramifications, Dalton finds comfort in the fact that he's doing it for altruistic reasons. But thinking it and feeling it are not the same beast, and the pressure is suffocating him. As a masochist, Dalton balances on a knife's edge between self-punishment and the point of no return. Restraint was plagued with riots, leading the rest of Dalton's family to Dominion, and together they set out to protect the Masters of Restraint. But as Restraint crumbles down to its foundation, Dalton's life does as well. While trying to hide his true nature, Dalton pushes the members of Restraint, oddly finds Pretty Boy Whittenhower taking a shine to him, joins Generation Next, and tries to locate the mole leaking the information published in the Mistress & Master of Restraint books. Walking down a lonely path of alienation, Dalton discovers those he's trying to protect are actually protecting him from the very monster who set it all into motion.
