Nova, the daughter of a US congressman, is pretty, privileged, and persuasive. Embarrassed by her father's political abuse of power and her mother's onset submissiveness, she finds solace in her secret job as a ghostwriter for one of the nation's top media outlets, working to unveil the injustices in America's urban communities. Her recent article, entitled "The American Nightmare," catches the eye of Damon Garrett, a community activist and seemingly the voice of Detroit's underserved. Unbeknownst to many, he personifies racism, danger, and hypocrisy cloaked in rhetoric.
