One major concern is the under representation of black men in colleges in general as compared to the representation in sports. The book chronicles the reunion of two friends, Oslo and Denny who seize every opportunity to discuss the problems. Further, Denny's romantic involvement with Claris, a former pupil of his resulted in an attempt on his life by Claris' husband, Prince, a renowned drug dealer. In that attempt, a bomb supposedly intended for Denny took the life of his fatherร•s best friend, Tejan. Prince was eventually killed in a helicopter crash and Denny and Claris became engaged to married...
