Dubliners, The Dubliners or Dubliners (Dubliners) is a collection of short stories published in 1914 that foreshadows the monumental work in which, soon voluntary exile, James Joyce never cease to evoke his hometown of Dublin. James Joyce (James Augustine Aloysius Joyce, February 2, 1882 in Dublin - January 13, 1941 in Zurich) is a novelist and Irish expatriate poet, considered one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. His major works are a collection of stories entitled Dubliners (1914), and novels such as A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Ulysses (1922) and Finnegans Wake (1939). Although he spent most of his life outside his native country, the Irish experience of Joyce is essential in his writings and is the basis of most of his works. His fictional universe is rooted in Dublin and reflects his family life, events, friends (and enemies) days of school and college. Thus, it became at once the most cosmopolitan and most local of the great Irish writers. His work is marked by his mastery of language and the use of new literary forms associated with the creation of characters who, like Leopold Bloom and Molly Bloom (Ulysses), are individuals with deep humanity.
