As Eggie pursues a tasty carrot, Barkley pursues Eggie which leaves Eggie minus one ear and part of his tail. After Eggie receives emergency care through the assistance of a little girl named Rachel Bradley, he returns home to his family. Momma and Poppa waste no time in helping Eggie with his newly acquired handicap while Eggie's brother, Robbie, pokes fun at the artificial replacements: a carrot with its green, leafy top; a tulip's leaf painted white; and a cotton ball for a tail.
