Description
Enigma is a short
allegorical story that speaks of a certain type of insanity that affects the
minds of those who, believing that they, and they alone, are capable of
revealing the truth โ the sole truth โ engage in actions that lead humanity to
the brink of the abyss. In this sense the book speaks of science and religion
as being one. Enigma, as the title
suggests, is a highly enigmatic tale, being also a sequel to the authorโs
equally enigmatic book entitled A Tale of
Two Deserts. This latter book, taken with Enigma, creates a single narrative about a folly so great that it
threatens humanityโs future, yet people are blind to this even though the
evidence for such is all around: as the book says, โNature dies before us, yet
few notice this.โ And the book contains a message that this does not have to be
so and what we need to do is to acquire the knowledge, the sophistication and
the wisdom to reap the benefits from religion and science without these things
destroying us.
