Belladonna has no sympathy for the gifted sculptor who carved her from a living kapok tree. He dies from exhaustion days after finishing her creation, never realizing she is a restless soul who hunts for prey in the night. His death is Belladonna's vengeance for making her.

Immortality is one thing, boredom another. As a vapor she approaches her victim, beguiling a man to search and then find her enticing form. Once he is in her company she reveals her deepest yearnings even as she is quick to seduce and abuse his trust. And soon by compulsion and naïveté he offers himself while she continues to spin her lies like a spider.

Is escape forever beyond her reach? How can she escape? A good question. If only she could find a truly powerful man with enough life-force to free her from the shackle of her curse. Is that too much to ask? Maybe. Ah, but to be limber and supple during the day and during the night. What would she give for that and what might be the result?

This is uncharted territory.

The initial price is easy enough to pay. She would give anything, including the eventual loss of her beauty and the forfeiture of an endless life to realize her goal. But a question troubles her pleasant dream. Would she be hard to the touch, or soft as a flesh-and-blood woman?

Still, would she be truly free? What if she were forced to feed the same as before? The future is always unknown. Perhaps she would be destined to a drab and lonely existence, or perhaps a release is her fate: The blessing to grow into a rich life with all of its bounty, her crimes banished to the past and forever unpaid for.
