My favorite one is a burgundy synthetic-leather-bound New International Version, complete with worn page gilding, frayed marker ribbons, and comical amounts of notes, questions, highlighting, and dog ears. During late 2008 and early 2009, God showed me that I was spiritually and biblically myopic, and I had been walking around with my glasses off. The Lord used those two and a half pounds of fake leather, onion skin, and ink to crush me. Gilded claws tore me to pieces, and in doing so, the Word of God healed me. Out of that healing came the two stories that make up this book
