Like so many kids with autism, the character struggles to navigate a world full of judgmental "normal" people. Throughout the book, while providing intriguing historic and scientific facts, we see the character grow in his confidence to confront the normalcy that is expected of him. He shows that he's willing to stand firm in his refusal not to change himself to make others comfortable.
