Boy loves girl. Boy says goodnight and dies on his way home. Boy comes back as a robot and must fight off monster crabs, while girl gets infected with a virus that makes her turn everyone she meets into zombies. Ah, love... So complicated. Tenyen is over the moon for Nether - a part-time hacker and full-time I-spy enthusiast; who spends her days videotaping strangers and uploading their real-life episodes to viral video "Crash" sites. The feelings are real, but while Tenyen recalls his memories of her, Nether can only watch recorded chapters of a relationship she's uncertain has ever been. Their love story is the latest viral sensation, yet they still have no idea where the other one is. But that won't keep them from looking. As in all great romance, there are obstacles, secrets, manipulators and dirty cops. Tenyen strikes a deal to assist a cross-dressing dwarf on a mission of vengeance. Nether tries to stay sober long enough to hear if the toy monkey in her room has anything new to say. Both of them learn while there are no guarantees in life, you should never trust a girl with purple hair. And, lest we forget, as in all great romance, there are also the inevitable monster crabs, robots and zombies. "The author's prose can be poetic, which lends the story the air of a modern epic poem. Chandleresque analogies ("You make love like razor blades") and animated descriptions ("The blood drip, drip, drops on the floor") also brighten the prose. An original voice that's initially disorienting, but, given time, Allison lyrically creates an intriguing world." - Kirkus Reviews (starred review) Top 100 Indie Books - Best of 2012 -- Kirkus Reviews
