The father reflects on his life in poetry, and the son bristles, positing that "the road to hell is paved with poets". Ultimately, however, he comes to the realization that at 55, there is no escape - it isn't possible to separate the father, the son, the poet, and the poem. For better or worse, he has followed in the footsteps of his father and become a man of the word.
