HOODLESS KLAN is the story of a charter school principal who was a thirty-eight-year veteran educator with a stellar record before accepting this position at Pine Woods Charter Elementary School. Dr. Grace Middleton knew how to create a positive school climate, empower staff to be risk-takers on behalf of the student clients whom they all served, and involve parents in meaningful decisions surrounding their children's education.However, a group of manipulative, wealthy racists within the school system and the larger community boldly insisted that Dr. Middleton be complicit with them in taking unscrupulous actions against minority staff, parents and children. When she refused, they join forces with a key central office staff member and a compromised Board of Education to attempt to force her out of her job and out of that upscale township. It's the classic story of righteousness versus evil, with the education of all children hanging in the balance.Remarkable efforts to discredit Dr. Middleton produced absurd fabrications about her job performance that caused the Board of Education to fire her. After the intervention of a top attorney, that Board rescinded her termination and she retired. Modern-day racism masks itself in the (hoodless) faces of some persons with power, affluence and influence, who know the right thing to do, but willfully choose the opposite actions without fear of consequences.
