As a police officer, Travis is used to violence, but he never expected to be involved in an on-the-job shooting. When he wakes up from a coma, he's even more surprised to learn of his shocking new destiny. According to a messenger angel, God has tasked Travis with a dangerous mission: protecting Nashville from a terrible undead threat.

He soon learns that his undead nemesis, Mickail, is a bloodthirsty, brutal, two-hundred-year-old vampire. Mickail takes instructions from a mysterious man who appears to him in mirrors, and the man in the mirror isn't exactly a nice guy, either.

As if vampire hunting isn't enough, Travis has been accused of brutally murdering his former partner, Maria. He's sure Mickail had something to do with it, and now Michail has a new target: Travis's ex-wife, Jill. Mickail knows Travis still holds a candle for his ex, and the threat to her safety pushes Travis over the edge.

As a spectral war erupts on the streets of Nashville, Mickail counts on a crew of supernatural minions to keep Travis at bay. As Travis struggles to master his own supernatural powers, he realizes a fight like this has no room for slow learners.
