Description

Income-based Democracy is the inevitable result of failures in conventional democracies to deliver on high quality democratic entitlements and civil rights for their citizenry and resident. It is very similar to the premise of Democratic Socialism but Democratic Socialism differs from Income-based Democracy in that the tenants of socialism are captured by the machinery of the democratic process rather than the imposition of centrally managed economies. It should not be confused with the radical ideology of Communism. Das Kapital and the Communist Manifesto demanded the proletariat take control of the government and drastically redistribute wealth and destroy the institutions of mercantile economy. Income-based Democracy does not advocate for such extreme measures or outcomes, but rather elevates the below median income group by separating them from the above median income group, providing them the representation they need to reform the economy, protect their civil rights and their voting rights. The proletariat is made a partner rather than a master, and through the enhanced democratic process, a more equitable and just economy will be earned. Income-based Democracy advocates for high quality democratic entitlements that protect majority rule with strong checks and balances within government institutions. It is the expectation that the division of labor in representation produce more value for the nation when its public policy benefits from the increased expertise through role identity, and the compartmentalization of interests through the median partition. All of the stakeholders can pursue their individual interests, with the product being more equitable markets, more specialized public policy, and more accurate and honest elections. Income-based Democracy has properties that enhances the representation for discriminated minorities and poorer populations making it the best choice for nation-building and reform movements. If the citizens are more informed and given the choice between conventional democracy and Income-based Democracy, they will invariably chose the system that better advocates for their civil rights and economic rights.
