When David McBeth suspects that his best friend, the village policeman, is a 'Sleeper', a long term spy for the Soviet Union, it tests his loyalty to the limit. He can remember when the Clyde sent convoys to aid our Russian friends during the War, but now, in 1962, he watches nuclear submarines leaving the river to guard against Soviet aggression.
