New York Police Detective Jack Reeves is less than thrilled when his wife, Ashley, decides to organize a Fourth of July neighborhood block party. After a hard day of work, he prefers quiet evenings spent at home with her and their newborn son, John. But Jack soon realizes it isn't so easy to separate his job from his home life.

When one of their neighbors, Richard Smythe, is shot and killed during the event, Jack has no choice but to get involved. Unfortunately, there are as many suspects as there are alibis. With his police partner, Ryan Parks, Jack begins an in-depth investigation into the man's murder, following a twisting trail that reveals more the further he probes.
