Half Landian, half vampire Angelina and her dragonier partner Tanner have been hunting and destroy rogue vampires in the capital city of Provine on the planet Sparta for the Church for years, but they haven't found the one she really wants: Rogan, the vampire who forcibly turned her priest father Brendan and then forced him to father her. Sparta is plunged into war when a Landian attacks and destroys the city Patra, killing one hundred thousand people. Angelina and Tanner head to Patra, fearing Rogan would go there to try to take control of the surviving vampires, as Rogan cares little for laws. The Patran survivors would be ripe for his sick brand of tyranny. Leaving Provine without the Church's permission could place Angelina on their rogue list, but she's willing to take the chance. Accompanied by werewolves Mick Russo and vampire/police liaison officer Shannon Marshall, they try to beat Rogan to the punch. Tanner also has his own reasons for going with her: he's been in love with her for years and intends to use the time to make her his. But none of them are prepared for what they find in Patra or the fact Rogan is more powerful than they knew.
