Jody Bennett is facing a very difficult moment in her life as she has to prepare to tell her horse Penny her final goodbye. Penny is twenty years old and has fallen victim to the dreadful disease cancer. Jody has settled into the barn for what will be Penny's last night and as she sits by Penny's side she begins to reminisce of all of the times Penny and her have shared. Some were full of joy but some were full of sadness as well. Penny was born and raised on Jody's farm and at twelve years old Jody begged for the foal to be hers. After much persuasion and ultimately begging, Jody's father agrees for Penny to be Jody's. Once Penny is born Jody takes right into training her to be her perfect horse. Some of Jody's expectations for Penny and her are for them to compete in the National Cowboy Rodeo Association. It was something that Jody had grown up dreaming of and Penny helps Jody's dreams come true. They were achieving great success in the rodeo arena and Jody was making fast friends with some of the other contestants, especially Jake Reed. Jody couldn't imagine life being much better. She is sixteen years old and has just come home from the National Finals Rodeo for the National Cowboy Rodeo Association. It was something she had only dreamed of achieving. Then suddenly within the blink of an eye Jody's dreams end. Her family is faced with a life changing tragedy, and at sixteen years old Jody is torn between sadness and anger. She rebels and finds herself in a heap of trouble. Her behavior has also turned all of her true friends away from her, including Jake. She must change her ways or kiss her future goodbye.
