Also included are the devotions of Lancelot Andrewes, a Church of England bishop during the reigns of Elizabeth I and James I. Translated from Greek by Newman himself, these devotions based on Scripture and the writings of the Church Fathers were a primary source of Newman's own spiritual life, even long after he entered the Catholic Church.
