Two little girls live with their Scottish Mum in the beautiful California countryside, where they enjoy playing imaginative games. As Bunny and Kitty, they climb trees and sing made up songs. They are sad that their parents have separated, but enjoy the devoted company of their dog Rosco, who is now the big, protective guardian of the family.

After one of their two chickens is taken from the coop during the night, Pick-Pick, who survived, takes to sleeping in the breezeway, snuggled up under the watchful eye of Rosco.
