In the process of moving from New York City to Los Angeles, 16-year-old Morene Knightshade is left feeling lost as she grapples with the apparent loss of her best friend, Gavin, an alien with superpowers, just like the superheroes who had failed to save her from the destruction of the crashing planes she'd witnessed when she was small.
