What would you do if your husband woke up and told you he was somebody else? When Eric Jackson is hit by a truck, he is in a coma for almost two weeks. Despite their marital difficulties and impending divorce, his wife Ellie stays by his side, hoping for a full recovery. When Eric opens his eyes, however, he believes that he is no longer Ellie's husband. He doesn't even recognize the man in the mirror. Feeling that it is a case of temporary amnesia, the doctors send Eric home, telling Ellie that he will eventually remember everything from before the accident. As time passes, though, Ellie sees changes in her husband and she can't deny that she is intrigued by the new Eric. Attraction grows into a renewal of love for both of them and they see the possibility of moving forward together. However, Eric begins to have more and more flashes of his past life--of who he was previously--and he is determined to unlock all of his mysteries before he fully commits to a life with Ellie. In supporting him, Ellie is forced to face her own history, one which she thought she had placed firmly behind her, never to be re-visited. As Eric moves closer to his past, Ellie tries to run further away from hers, putting their tentatively forged relationship at risk.
