Reluctantly agreeing to a blind date, Maggie becomes frustrated with the evermore impossible-to-believe claims made by the man sitting across the table. Desperately wanting to avoid an argument, but also wanting Maggie to believe him, Remmy decides the best way to prove his incredible assertion is to show her. He takes Maggie by the hand as they jump through time and space via the Brane. Maggie is captivated by the idea that Remmy has loved her for a very long time prior to this meeting. She soon learns Remmy is the only survivor of a research study conducted to artificially create superior soldiers for the United Republic of Earth. The U.R.E. is a world-wide government that rose to power following the devastation caused by an overwhelming number of natural disasters that occurred on earth in the 21st century. Concluding that anyone attempting to live outside of the system threatens the stability of the government, the U.R.E. is now engaged in a campaign to quietly eliminate all who are not privileged to live within The City. Although Maggie is vehemently opposed to war, Remmy eventually enlists her help in stopping the genocide being carried out by the U.R.E. Remmy thinks the eradication of U.R.E headquarters would go far in setting things right. Unfortunately, they are hindered by the not always predictable results of time travel, and by the super human androids who defend the U.R.E. center. A misunderstanding in ideology has Maggie confronting Ewa - a persuasive and innovative leader of the youth in the Simple People region of West Asia. Unknown to them now, is that Ewa and her followers will enact a new democracy where everyone is truly equal.
