Who killed Carlton Greene on the night of July 4th, 1957? Ten years later, in the summer of 1967, sixteen year old Billy Scott has to find out and if he reveals it to the world, will be killed as well. After receiving a pristine Chevy Bel Air stored in the family garage as a graduation present from his cold, calculating father, things begin to happen that nearly send Billy over the edge. As strange luck would have it, Carlton is revealed to be the eldest son of Billy's best friend and mentor, Amos Greene, the seventy five year old grandson of a slave who helps open the doors to Billy's future.
