Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The SWLPC programming language, "Shattered World LPC", is a variant of LPC developed and maintained by the staff of the MUD Shattered World. It is a fork of the LPMud 2.4.5 server. The SWLPC server software was originally distributed privately, but was later made publicly available. Its primary maintainer is Geoff "Dredd" Wong. A MUD (originally Multi-User Dungeon, with later variants Multi-User Dimension and Multi-User Domain), pronounced /¿m¿d/, is a multiplayer real-time virtual world described primarily in text. MUDs combine elements of role-playing games, hack and slash, player versus player, interactive fiction, and online chat. Players can read or view descriptions of rooms, objects, other players, non-player characters, and actions performed in the virtual world. Players typically interact with each other and the world by typing commands that resemble a natural language.
