Lexi Taylor has moved with her sister and brother-in-law from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Los Angeles, California to begin a new life after the tragic death of her fiance. Wanting a complete change, Lexi gives up her former career as a teacher and takes a job as a secretary at the Woods Detective Agency.All three are testing the waters at their new jobs, meeting new friends and getting adjusted to new lives. Everything is fine until Lexi's brother-in-law turns up missing. She asks her boss for help and from that point on her life becomes a roller coaster ride. A dead body is found in a 55 gallon drum at the bottom of the lake where Lexi's brother-in-law is testing the water for contaminates and the search for his identity and his killer leads Lexi and her boss, Ray Jansen into danger. Along the way Lexi begins to have romantic feelings for Ray, but those feelings lead to internal conflict because Lexi feels guilty about dating someone new. Can Lexi forget the past and find a new life? There is electricity in the air between Lexi and Ray at the office Christmas party and events reach a climax at the New Years Eve party.
