Weldon, a nursing home resident, meets Blanch, a spirited young woman doing community service for past mistakes. Reluctantly, she joins him at his table where he's working on a jigsaw puzzle. That simple act becomes a life-altering event for her.
Through five poignant scenes (and an optional sixth), The Puzzler is a heartfelt duet between two unlikely souls, weaving humor, vulnerability, and hope into a story that reminds us all: the most powerful transformations often come from the simplest connections. It's perfect for community productions, festivals, or dinner theaters looking for a psychologically rich, emotionally resonant piece. The structure naturally complements a four-course meal, with breaks between scenes offering ideal serving opportunities.
One church used The Puzzler as a dinner theatre fundraiser, raising a substantial amount towards its restoration project. With just four performances over two weekends, the play proved to be a powerful, flexible piece that connects with audiences and supports community goals.
