Description

The Daisy Queen which is pivotal to our story existed ephemerally in the small, little-known town called Hanghat, Texas. The events leading to the building of the second Daisy Queen, and the effect of its brief existence in precipitating a sudden change in the lives of its townspeople, are outcomes of a series of events which began long ago. So, let us begin at a time in a historical past which, even after daydreaming in highschool classes during our cursory exposure to selected facts in American history, may still give us some feeling of connection and understanding to the events which allowed the sweeping of Hanghat, Texas into existence. You, the reader, like most of us putters-of-eggs-in-one-basket, no doubt, will select one of the events which helped to birth Hanghat and consider it as the seminal root which eventually sprouted the outlandish burg. I, however, feel that one should not go back so far in time as to be unsure of the efficacy of each event in producing a singular outcome. By my reckoning the following historical milestones directly contributed to the existence of Hanghat and the people in it, but not to the existence of the nearby towns of Phleville and Haygap, or the state of Texas. At least I don't think so, unless Texans are living in a state once destined to be called Austinvania. So, now I begin to explain what I have discovered about the happenings that birthed Hanghat, revealed a secret or two, salvaged a forgotten genealogy, reunited the hearts of two young lovers, and placed windshield wipers on the rear window of a 1952 dodge named, "Hazel."
