Description

The contents herein describe sinister plots, wars of succession, arcane duels, arduous sieges, courtly scandals, deadly assassinations, and holy wars. Readers can expect powerful lords to compete for glory and honour, ambitious mages to test the limits of the arcane arts, clandestine plots to weave themselves through the shadows of the White Keep's halls, and wicked kings to lead the Realm through a blaze of chaos and turmoil. --- The Setting Sun is a historical record of the Glorious Realm written by Archwizard Garth Septimus Simon, with its sources coming from previous Archwizards who had all compiled histories during their tenures. After briefly covering the first 280 or so years of the Realm's history, Garth focuses on the beginning of the fall of House Pike, the ruling family of the Realm. After a great famine, King Alexander III sailed many seas and eventually married a princess of a foreign, unfamiliar land called the Tung Empire. While most of the Realm accepted their union, House Oxer and Alexander's younger brother, Avery, rebelled. Avery thought that the Royal Blood had been tainted by Alexander's marriage, and it became his goal to raise true heirs of the Realm and purge his brother's Line. This goal would take generations to fulfill. Once done, the Pikes ironically became even more corrupted and tainted by their lust and power. After nearly 100 years since Alexander III, Murth II caused much division and war. The Great Houses, lead by House Leon, rebelled against the Crown's tyranny. With their rebellion successful, King Ashar II abdicated the throne and it was given by consensus to House Leon. While the Pike's words were, "Under the Setting Sun," they never thought to see "the Setting Sun" upon their rule.
