Is tithing still relevant? In summary, we have explained in great detail why tithing was necessary in the colonial era of the Mosaic Law. Having become all priests, no more tithing for anyone. Let us summarize what we have learned so far. As we have seen, tithing was part of the law in the Old Testament, part of the ordinances that God gave to the children of Israel through Moses. Paying tithes is part of the law and as such belongs in the same category as animal sacrifices and the many and varied rules dictated by that law. We have seen below that the New Testament insists that the law and its ordinances have been abolished by the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is why we no longer sacrifice animals today. If someone asks why we don't do this, we answer "because it is part of the Mosaic Law and that law is no longer valid. Jesus Christ, by His sacrifice on the cross, abolished in His flesh the enmity, the law of commandments contained in the ordinances. We are no longer under the law".
