With the help of the Wizard's shapeshifting cat/horse, Nib and his new friend Stella race to the Sweet Home Library and brave the harrowing descent to the Deep Earth crystals to learn the nature of Earth's music. Meanwhile in space, Rose and Rory (a Star being) visit Stellar University and the Science Station supply side to discover the sad song's true origin, safeguard the return of Earth crystals removed by the Star beings for study when they didn't know any better, and reveal the forgotten identity of the people of Sweet Home. The Wizard's Apprentice is about friendship, homesickness, and healing. In the face of sadness, each one contributes their piece to heal Earth's trauma. And none of them could have done it alone.
