His life already devastated by the 2008 financial crisis, Federico's world is shaken to its foundations by the catastrophic 2009 earthquake in his native land of Abruzzo, Italy.

Called to return to help with the reconstruction of the land from which he had once been banished, Federico must decipher cryptic clues from the past, reconnect with childhood friends, and face both his fears and a bitter enemy to find both a treasure and the personal and generational redemption hidden in the past he had tried to bury.

The author

Born in L'Aquila ("The Eagle"), Adriano de Matteis spent his childhood in Abruzzo, Pakistan, and Canada. Returning to Milan, he graduated with a degree in mathematics that included writing a thesis on compositional techniques used by Igor Stravinsky. Today, Adriano works in the financial sector and spends a little less time in airports and airplanes, where he often collected the ideas and words to write "The Wounded Eagle".
