Description

An orb from an alternate universe contains a story of a young girl with a mysterious past. The girl's name is Moonbeam, and her friends consider her weird. Where does she go at night? Why is she always tired and dirty? Why do rats follow her? And what does that symbol woven into her hair mean?A planet in this universe is home to humanoid creatures known as erdlings. These creatures are sharply divided between those who ride in machines that fulfill their every desire---their personal Val-A's---and those who must walk. Val-A's are made day and night in a factory which dumps its debris into a bottomless hole at the top of a mountain----or the hole seems bottomless until the mountain moves.Moonbeam and her friends---along with some unexpected animal allies----desperately attempt to convince erdlings that the mountain is a living creature in need of help. It's tricky work, for neither side trusts the other. Is this story real? You'll have to decide for yourself. But keep an open mind. If you do, you may learn lessons on identity, leadership, female empowerment, friendship, and environmental awareness. Chances are once you leave the orb, you'll view life on Earth differently.
