Description

The main aim of the research is to develop a remuneration framework for lower level employees in the hotel industry of Namibia. The researcher chose this specific area because of the general perception in Namibia that the workers in the hotel industry are ¿shockingly¿ underpaid, overworked and endure poor working conditions. In addition, the tourism and hospitality sector does not have a minimum wage to act as a guide, to employers when pegging the starting wages and salaries for their employees. This implies that each hotel comes up with its own payment system, which may be very different from what the other hotels of similar size and star grading are offering.
