The United States Air Force Statistical Digest has been published each year since 1948. It is the longest running continuing publication in the Air Force having first appeared one year after the Air Force was formed as a separate service. Individuals requiring a historical description of Air Force resources, organizations, and activities have found each issue an invaluable addition to their reference sources.We welcome your comments and suggestions for improvement of future issues. The FY 2008 Statistical Digest should be available on the AF portal in the late Spring of 2009. Please note that some of the comparable data for identical time periods in this year's edition may differ from those in previous editions. This is because of updates to prior years' actuals and a thorough revisit to all cited original sources.In this edition of the Digest, we've made changes to three tables (D-8, D-10, D-11) due to OPM and Air Force age and race/ethnicity privacy policy. These tables have had no new data since 2003, so we decided to reformat them to provide useful data at a broader level of detail. Table D-10 had to be deleted in its entirety since the data simply could not be meaningfully changed to an acceptable level of detail. To maintain consistency in table numbering, we changed Table D-10 to show civilian employee race/ethnicity data to complement the same data provided for military members in Table D-11.
