There's an old saying that men are made to be hunters. And women who make themselves too accessible are unlikely to sustain the hunter's interest.

Such seems to be the case for Cassie, who twice thought she had found the man of her dreams only to be taken for granted by them both. First, there was Todd, a driven, impressive man who seems happiest when he controls everything and everyone around him. Enchanted with his striking looks and charm, Cassie tolerates his kingly ways for two years before deciding to walk away from a relationship in which she is merely seen but not heard.

Several months later, she meets Johnson, who draws her in with his disarming humor and sweet sensitivity to her cares and needs. He seems to be everything she's ever wanted in a man-until he reveals that he doesn't want a "serious" relationship with anyone. With her desire for a clear commitment coolly crushed, Cassie must again decide whether to walk away or settle for less than she wants.

But men often have complicated souls. And at times it seems that they only want what they can't have. Once Cassie is no longer available to Todd or Johnson, both men are suddenly willing to do almost anything to regain her affections. But now it's Cassie who holds all the cards.
