Adrian, a hardworking and highly paid management consultant climbing the career ladder, is a Canadian living in Europe with his wife Hannah and their two children. Although on the surface his life appears settled, Adrian has skeletons in the closet from his university days and is frequently troubled by nightmares. While on vacation in Canada visiting his parents, he is tracked down after many years by an old enemy, Damian, in an encounter that almost costs him his life. What happened on that fateful night? The lines between reality and hallucination are at times blurred, and the use of psychedelic drugs is described in a vivid and titillating manner, bringing a taboo subject into the mainstream. The novel is predominantly set in British Columbia, both in the present and in the 1990's. There are many books which attempt to "capture the spirit of the 80's, 70's, 60's," etc., this book captures the spirit of the 1990's. Vancouver is brought to life, both then and now.
