Description
Wireless telecommunications systems are generating a huge amount of interest. In the last two decades, these systems have experienced at least three major technological leaps, and it has become impossible to imagine how society organized itself without them. The authors of this book propose a macroscopic approach to wireless systems, and aim to answer key questions about power, data rates, multiple access, cellular engineering and access network architectures.
They present a series of solved problems, the objective of which is to establish the main elements of a global link budget in several radiocommunication systems.
This book should be considered as a collection of practical studies illustrating the fundamental principles of wireless systems. It is built chapter-by-chapter on the major technological concepts of radio systems. Each chapter begins with a very brief introduction of the main theoretical results, followed by s series of solved problems. As far as possible, they propose practical problems stemming from the professional world, using the current terminology and units (systematic use of such units in decibels) of this professional environment.
